This client is a multinational with diversified interests and directs the operation of nine manufacturing plants on five continents with locations in the US, Bahia, Brazil, UK, France, Saudi Arabia and Australia. One of the biggest challenges they faced was data management across multiple locations as they had no central repository. To overcome this challenge, a customized extranet portal was developed based on SharePoint to manage documents, user information, tasks for the Client and firm-wide departments that includes HR, IT, Product development, Marketing, Sales and QA. SharePoint workflow capabilities were integrated with Microsoft InfoPath to have a robust workflow for different type of information tracking. Excel services were extensively used for surfacing information in the portal from native spreadsheets. K2 Workflow was implemented to handle complex workflow processes like vendor management and employee boarding process on SharePoint platform.
